With its Moorish roots and mountain views, Al Qasr Villa is ideally situated to explore one of Andalusia’s most captivating regions. The surrounding area offers a balance of tranquillity and activity — where ancient landscapes meet golden Mediterranean beaches, and peaceful mountain trails lead to lively Spanish towns.

Nestled in the Sierra Cabrera mountains, Cortijo Cabrera is a tranquil village known for its distinctive Moorish architecture and warm sense of community. Within the village, you’ll find pétanque and tennis courts, beautiful walking and cycling routes, and a small but vibrant social scene.
The Arch Bar serves food and drinks six days a week, while the award-winning Riad Restaurant (open daily) offers exceptional cuisine with views across the valley. Cabrera also has a small library adding to its welcoming charm. Just a few kilometres away lies Cortijo Grande, home to additional restaurants set among lush valleys and olive groves.

A short drive from the villa, Turre provides everything you might need during your stay — traditional tapas bars, restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies and banks.
Continue a little further and you’ll reach Mojácar Pueblo, a whitewashed hilltop village full of narrow cobbled streets, craft shops, and spectacular sea views. Below, Mojácar Playa stretches for 14 kilometres along the Mediterranean coast, with beach clubs, fine restaurants, and family-friendly areas for swimming and relaxation.

Further along the coast, Vera Playa offers a quieter atmosphere, including a family naturist section and wide sandy beaches. The nearby towns of Vera, Garrucha, Bédar and Níjar each have their own unique character — from seafood restaurants and local markets to pottery workshops and art studios.

The region offers an exceptional variety of experiences. Enjoy horse-riding through mountain trails, a round of golf on nearby courses, or explore the dramatic landscapes of the Tabernas Desert, home to the Wild West film set “Mini Hollywood.”
For families and adventure seekers, there are opportunities for quad biking, go-karting, and water sports, including a water park. The area’s coastline also provides excellent spots for sailing and boat hire.

Exploring the region’s weekly markets is one of the best ways to experience authentic Andalusian life. Each town near Al Qasr Villa has its own distinct character — from mountain villages to seaside promenades — offering local produce, crafts, and a taste of everyday Spain.
